Ohio State Brutus cross out M Michigan Ornament

Introduction to

This image captures a beautifully festive and humorous Christmas ornament that perfectly blends the holiday spirit with one of the most iconic rivalries in American college sports — the Ohio State Buckeyes versus the Michigan Wolverines. The ornament hangs delicately in front of a softly lit Christmas tree, its background glowing with warm, golden bokeh lights that add a magical seasonal touch. In the blurred distance, a single red ornament rests on a branch, complementing the warm and cozy holiday atmosphere. At the center of the photo, the featured ornament stands out vividly. It’s crafted from a slice of natural wood, complete with its bark edges intact, giving it a rustic and handmade appearance. The ornament is suspended from a piece of rough twine tied into a simple knot, enhancing the natural and cozy feel of the decoration. This style fits perfectly with traditional, farmhouse-inspired holiday décor — simple, warm, and nostalgic.

The artwork on the wooden ornament depicts a playful, cartoon-style scene that instantly captures attention. In the illustration, we see the Ohio State Buckeyes’ beloved mascot, Brutus Buckeye, proudly wearing his red and gray uniform with the number “00” displayed across his chest. Brutus is drawn mid-stride, walking confidently toward a massive yellow letter “M” painted on a snowy football field. The “M” unmistakably represents the University of Michigan — Ohio State’s most famous and long-standing rival. However, the humor and rivalry come to life in the detail: Brutus is in the act of crossing out the Michigan “M” with bold yellow lines, forming an “X” over it. This is a playful jab at Michigan, symbolizing Ohio State’s determination to “cancel out” or defeat their rivals. The tradition of crossing out the “M” is something Ohio State fans take seriously during rivalry week each year, and this ornament captures that spirit perfectly — all while keeping it lighthearted and festive.

Above the scene, the word “Ohio” is written in a smooth, elegant script, completing the image and proudly declaring the Buckeye pride. Beneath the field, at the bottom of the ornament, a small crowd of fans is depicted. They’re bundled up in colorful winter clothing — red, orange, yellow, and navy blue — suggesting the chilly weather typical of late November when the two teams usually face off. The snow on the ground and the overcast sky reinforce the wintry, game-day feel.
